How to get a dog adandoned skiddish I pet him?

We have a dog that someone just left and abandoned. He is a red bone hound. Hes really sweet from a distance. Ive been feeding him and sometimes could leave pet once and escapes. Hes so sweet and I just want to hug and animals, but he will not let me. Please, does anyone have any advice please help and thanks !!!!!

This will take a long time the dog obviously still has not come from a good home that will take time for him to trust you .. try to feed him by hand or with just an occasional treat lightly caress but do not force anything. Try to stay calm and quiet until you get used to your home and not bring a lot of people to visit. He began to cheer in a bit. I hope this helps
