Good fishing spots on the north shore of Long Island?

I live on the north shore of Long Island in a town called Great Neck. I wonder if anyone can suggest a place of good fishing on the north coast. I'd like to catch a Striped Bass or bluefish. One could also suggest what the best bait or lure to use. I use a diamond template into a pole and a hook with a weight on the other. I ushally fuel use, but that has not worked so well so far.

Fish off any off the beaches near you. They will produce fish. Ask someone at your local store to meet and give you information and resources you looking for. But if you can not do these things only fish the beaches in your area.
